Spain ports over 600,000 mobile lines in September

The Masmovil group accounted for nearly 10 percent of Spain’s mobile portability gains in September, a month that saw a total of 488,000 changes of operator, according to data published by website economiza.com. The group’s main brand gained a total of 31,200 lines, while its Yoigo and Pepephone brands added some 18,300 and 7,300 lines respectively. Ethnic MVNO Digi Mobil also had a positive month, gaining around 13,500 new clients, followed byAlles weergeven Republica Movil with 2,900 and Euskaltel’s Telecable brand with 1,400. Other MVNOs such as Lycamobile, Carrefour and Lebara shed 4,100, 3,500 and 3,000 clients respectively.

Spain’s mobile network operators (MNOs) all posted losses from number porting in September, led by Orange with net losses of 35,000, although its Simyo brand added some 9,300 lines. Vodafone fared somewhat better, shedding a total of 22,600 customers despite gains of 5,200 at its Lowi discount division while Movistar (Telefonica) posted net losses of around 18,000 lines even though its Tuenti brand added 2,400 customers
