Spain ports 634.788 mobile numbers in May

Spanish mobile users ported 634.788 numbers in May. 30 percent more than in the same month a year earlier. The figure was higher than the previous three months but fell short of January’s record of 687.974. Fixed line porting meanwhile totalled 198.888 lines, up 27,7 percent from a year earlier. According to the latest figures from regulator CNMC.

CNMC said that MVNOs and Masmovil were net gainers from number porting. While Movistar, Orange and Vodafone were net losers.

The regulator also revealed that the overall number of active mobile (voice, broadband and M2M) lines stood at 52.57 million at the end of May, up 2.5 percent year on year.

Masmovil’s brands led in terms of net additions in May, with 137.290 lines, followed by Spain’s MVNOs with 69.210 and Movistar with 18.210. Orange saw the sharpest net reduction, down 148.080 and Vodafone shed a net 12.560 lines.

Spain’s top three operators (Movistar, Vodafone and Orange) accounted for 80,8 percent of all mobile lines in May.

The number of fixed broadband lines in Spain grew by 22.024 in May to a total of 14,56 million, with FTTH lines standing at 7,4 million, up 155.945.

Masmovil led gains in fixed broadband, adding 32.900 lines, followed by Movistar with 3.400, and Orange with 1.500. Vodafone lost 17.900 lines and other smaller operators gained 2.100.

The top three operators accounted for 91 percent of Spain’s total number of broadband lines in May, led by Movistar with a 40,77 percent market share, ahead of Orange with 27,23 percent and Vodafone with 22,78 percent. Masmovil’s share of the fixed broadband market stood at 4,96 percent in May and Spain’s other operators had 4,26 percent
