The number of Peruvian mobile numbers ported in a single month surpassed the figure of 300,000 for the first time in August, according to the latest data released by telecom regulator Osiptel. A total of 316,082 users ported their phone number to another operator, some 21.96 percent more than the previous month. The ported numbers were divided almost equally between postpaid (160,370) and prepaid (155,712), said Osiptel.
Once again, Entel and Claro (America Movil) were the biggest beneficiaries of number porting in August, adding 130,774 and 108,446 mobile lines respectively but losing 53,077 and 81,955 lines over the same period. Movistar (Telefonica) posted a net loss, adding 57,521 lines but losing 143,972, while Bitel (Viettel) added 9,338 new users but shed 36,228.
